As we begin this brand new academic year of 2011/12, we as the Students’ Council of R.I.C would like to thank the R.I.C Administration for giving each and every one of us the opportunity to obtain our LSE/University of London degrees at the Royal Institute of Colombo.

University life is a very adventurous and memorable part of everyone’s life as we come across many different personalities, new experiences and a whole load of duties and responsibilities. Without a doubt, the workload increases and most of the time we find ourselves running out of time to get our day-to-day work done. However, R.I.C provides us with an opportunity to both enjoy our university years and achieve academic excellence at the same time. Allowing us to obtain a valued British degree at such a minimal fee in our very own motherland is truly a blessing.

As the Students’ Council, our main goal is to make each and every fellow student’s experience at R.I.C a memorable one. Each year we try to fulfill our duties and responsibilities to the very fullest. We aim to address the student body’s problems, listen to their suggestions and implement solutions with the help of the R.I.C Administration. We also organize interactive activities and events such as the Carom ‘n’ Checkers tournament, Sports Day, Annual Dinner Dance and many more! Our biggest responsibility lies in the handling of the annual R.I.C Convocation for the graduates as well as those receiving their diplomas.

We as the R.I.C Students’ Council 2011/12 look forward to making this year yet another memorable year for the whole of our student body.
