
Royal Institute of Colombo plays a pioneering role in extending university education in Degree and Diploma courses of the University of London. Academic direction for the EMFSS (Economics, Management, Finance and Social Science) courses is provided by the LSE. This means that LSE academics and administrative staff develop syllabuses, write subject guides, develop online learning opportunities and materials, advise teaching institutions and prepare and mark examinations. University of London International Programmes students have the benefit of LSE's academic expertise, and the backing of the University of London, one of the oldest and largest universities in the UK. Successful students are awarded degrees or other qualifications by the University of London. These are distinct from degrees or other qualifications awarded by LSE. .
We offer the Diploma in Economics, Diploma in Social Sciences and the Diploma in Law. On successful completion of a Diploma, students can obtain the relevant BSc or LLB degree with 2 more years of studies at the RIC.
You have the ability, motivation and maturity to study at degree level, but do not have the qualifications usually required to enter a degree programme.
You have the necessary qualifications to embark on a degree, but would prefer a course with more teaching support.
Diploma is an entry route to degree study If you do not have traditional ‘A’ levels or their equivalent. The Diploma in Economics and Diploma in Social Sciences provide an entry route to all of the degrees in the fields of Economics, Management, Finance and the Social Sciences listed below and the Diploma in Law leads you to the LLB Degree. If you intend to go on to a degree programme listed in the BSc Degrees page, choose your courses carefully and make sure that the courses you choose are available on the degree that interests you. This will ensure that you receive credit for the courses you have passed. You can transfer to one of the degrees listed below:
