RIC conducts degree programmes by the University of London, UK and Deakin University, Australia. The University of London degrees include Bachelor of Laws, BSc degrees in Economics, Management, Finance and Social Sciences. The Deakin University degrees include Engineering, Science and Environment; students can commence the degree at RIC and go on to completing it in Deakin University, Australia in the last two years. The University of London has several prestigious universities under its banner including the London School of Economics, University College London, Birkbeck, King’s College London, SOAS and Queen Mary University amongst others. Most of these universities are ranked in the Top 10 universities in the United Kingdom. The BSc degrees are provided at RIC with the academic direction of the London School of Economics, which is ranked number 2 in the world for Social Sciences in 2019 (for the 7th consecutive year) – second only to Harvard University, USA. The aforementioned six constituent colleges of the University of London provide the syllabi, assessment and other academic content related to the Laws programme. Therefore, you can be guaranteed of a world-recognized degree from the Royal Institute of Colombo.
Why we are the best
The Royal Institute of Colombo has obtained the best results across 118 institutions in over 46 countries. This year, 89 per cent of our students obtained first and second classes in the University of London BSc degrees. These results are unique to RIC, not only in the country, but also across the world. In 2016, our students obtained 3 out the 9 first classes worldwide in the Undergraduate Laws programme. RIC is the leader in tertiary education in the non-state sector.

Higher Education and Employability
RIC graduates are highly employable. Students have a wide range of options available to pursue after completing their degree. They can either choose to find employment, or they can pursue their Masters degree or PhD in a prestigious university. Our students have gone on to complete their postgraduate degrees in universities such as the London School of Economics, University of Cambridge and other high-ranked universities across the world. Students who wish to work straight after completing their degree can do so – graduates of RIC are now working in prominent positions in their respective fields in both local and international organizations such as the United Nations, consultancies (including PriceWater Coopers, Deloitte, KPMG amongst others), prestigious law firms in Sri Lanka, and the state sector. In 2017, Sachintha Wijegunasekara from RIC obtained the Vice Chancellors Scholarship from Deakin University, Australia. This prestigious scholarship was offered to only one student in the world. Sachintha went on to completing his Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree at Deakin University, Australia.
